Completed Master of Science, Information Security and Assurance
If you have been following my website, which you probably haven't since I don't update often enough to keep it interesting, but anyway; I started to go back to school to get my Bachelors of Science degree in 2011. When I started I knew that the B.S. should only be the beginning, after all, I had been in the technology industry and career field for 18 years. So my intent was to complete the B.S. and go directly into an advanced degree. When I completed the first degree 17 months later in 2013, I wasn't sure which direction to go.
Recent Hacks and "Security Products"
Recently, a colleague of mine asked me:
Whats your take on the Sony hack and who would you turn to for security products?
Below is my thoughts and response:
I haven't been following it closely, but there are a few things to take from it.
Working on some Reloading work today
Working on some reload work today, in this weather, seems the lighter load is more consistent. Would have been .6MOA .6" if not for 1 straggler opening it up to 1.5"
I'm not sure if my scale is holding zero correctly either, I let it sit for a minute while seating a bullet and it gained .2 grain while empty. may need to change out my florecent lights for LED, more them away or something.
Today's conditions:
56.4°F
41% humidity
Barometric Pressure: 29.75" Hg
winds breezy about 3-4mph from 12° towards
2013 Perseids photography
This weekend is the peak of the Perseid meteor shower, and it is also just waxing from a new moon, so it's not high in the sky. A perfect combination to see meteor showers. For the past two nights, I have gone out and attempted to capture one with my camera. On the first night I was not successful in capturing any, but last night I was able to capture two.
This is the better of them, the other one has the meteor crossing high tention powerlines, which I could not see with my bare eyes, even though I knew they were there, I still pointed my camera at them.
This image was captured with a Canon 7d and the Canon 18-200mm set at it's widest, most open settings 18mm, f3/5 and focal distance set to infinity and exposed for 30 seconds at ISO 1600 speed.
Was time for an upgrade - 2012 Charger R/T Max
I've been wanting a new car for some time now, I've had all of my vehicles paid off and my pickup truck is getting a bit long in the tooth. There are several cars I have been considering, and I wanted something sporty. I've been looking online at sport coupes such as the Hyundai Genisis Coupe, Mazda RX8, Suburu BRZ/Scion FRS, Audi TT, or even the Dodge Challenger; I've also been looking at "hot hatches" like the Volkswagen Golf R, GTI, Mini Cooper, or the Hyundai Veloster Turbo. One car I've been keeping an eye on is the Dodge Charger.
SQL Injection protection and detection, SANS GCIH Class
Today was day 4 of the GCIH course being taught by Mark Baggett. Things are going great and I'm learning stuff, I today we discussed SQL injection and cross site scripting.
Regarding prevention, the training it states to perform input checking and disallow/block the user from entering symbols or specials characters such the apostrophe (') or the semi-colon (;) or the percent (%), etc.
Passed my Cisco CCNA for my Degree (SAN GCIH coming)
It's been a bit longer than I anticipated in obtaining this certification, and I learned or re-learned way more about some networking items I will likely never use again, and/or haven't used in years such as information regard hubs. Reminds me of the 10base5 or 4wireE&M telephone signaling that I studied while in the Air Force and never used while I was there or since.
What an amazing ride yesterday
On Thursday, I took my motorcycle to the shop to get a new battery and brakes. I also needed new tires so I got those as well as a battery tender. Since this is my 3rd battery for this bike.
I didn't go anywhere on Friday or Saturday, so the first opportunity that I had to go for a ride was Sunday. I couldn't find my ear plugs, so the first stop was to Rite-Aid. From there I decided to just, "go". I packed the camera for when I stop or see something worth photographing.

Labrador - Buddy - In the kitchen
A picture of my Labrador "Buddy" sitting in my kitchen. He doesn't seem to like having his picture taken.

My youngest dumb dog
My dumb puppy, pure Golden Retriever biting his lip. I finally got a picture of him without cutting off any of his appendages.
Now if I can only get Buddy to sit still outside. He's a Black Lab, and we have dark hardwood floors and low light. Very difficult to take a picture of.
